Washington County 350 Group Startup

You're invited to join a new local effort to scale up the climate movement in Washington County. 350 member Debby Garman of Hillsboro is bringing neighbors together to launch what will hopefully become a new local 350 affiliate based in Washington County (including Hillsboro, Forest Grove, Banks, Yamhill, North Plains and surrounding rural areas).

On Wednesday, May 25th, we're kicking off the new affiliate with a screening of Naomi Klein's powerful climate change film This Changes Everything, followed by a facilitated discussion about how to get involved in the new local group. Please join us!

The event will be from 6:00-8:00pm on May 25th, at 225 S. First Ave. in Hillsboro, less than a block from the Hatfield Government Center MAX station. It will be in the first meeting room on the first floor Washington Street Conference Center of the Hillsboro Park and Ride structure just south of the Hillsboro main post office, with free parking and parking lot entrances from First Ave and Adams. The event is free and open to the public.

By starting a local 350 group in Washington County, Garman hopes to build a group of climate-concerned folks to mobilize education and action on climate change issues, and support the goals of reducing fossil fuel use and promoting healthy neighborhoods. The event on the 25th is being put together by Garman and by climate organizer Nick Engelfried, who co-founded a successful 350 group in Missoula, Montana. Come see the film and participate in a discussion about growing the Washington County climate movement.
