What does climate change feel like?
Mukta and Julio are two international fellows from Bangladesh and Haiti on an exchange program working with 350PDX in solidarity for building the climate movement. They have frontline experiences of how everyday systems and social supports are threatened by the extreme weather and sea level rise associated with climate change.
Coming from backgrounds in agriculture, water access advocacy, gender equity, and youth, Mukta and Julio will share their countries’ experiences regarding climate change.
They are also here to share information about community action projects that they are working to implement in their home countries when they return in early December 2016.
This is an excellent opportunity to leverage your position as a climate action supporters to partner and support people facing the first effects of climate change -- and help them build community projects that will move us all towards climate resilience.
Mukta and Julio are part of the Community Solution Program (CSP), a program of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the US Department of State and implemented by International Research and Exchange Board (IREX).
IREX builds a more prosperous, and inclusive world by empowering youth, cultivating leaders, strengthening institutions, and extending access to quality education and information. The CSP helps leaders gain professional skills to create action plan for community-based initiatives in their home countries.
Thank you to the Oregon Sierra Club for hosting this event in their building.
