In order to stop the climate crisis from getting worse, we have to keep the remaining fossil fuel reserves in the ground. The Pacific Northwest is currently facing many active proposals for new fossil fuel infrastructure that if built would lock us into the fossil fuel economy and its carbon pollution for decades to come. The Fossil Fuel Resistance team seeks to stop new fossil fuel projects from being built in Portland or to service the Portland metro area, and to engage in regional fights to stop all new fossil fuel infrastructure in the PNW and beyond!
We hope you can join us at our next meeting on January 5th where we’ll talk about the status of fossil fuels in the PNW and start planning our next campaign to stop new fossil fuel power plants from being built to power Portland.
This past September, 350PDX and partners learned that Portland General Electric has plans to build two new LARGE natural gas plants to service the Portland metro area, locking us into burning natural gas for decades to come.
Join us at our next meeting for a short informational presentation on Carty/Boardman and to jump right into the campaign to stop these new gas plants.
Breaking: PGE is moving ahead with these gas plants and is about to file for the first of 2 permits they need. The comment period only lasts 45 days, so we have our work cut out. Join us!
