Leadership Council is a chance for 350PDX team leads to come together and share what their teams are working on, get organizational updates, and discuss pressing topics. We are also adding a training component at some meetings!
Please RSVP to let us know you’re coming, or forward this RSVP to another member of your team to represent you. Multiple people from your team are encouraged to attend!
Let Nicole know if there are any important topics you would like to propose for the meeting!

The all-leadership meeting gathers 1x per month, using a “Spokes Council” model
All team leads and members, staff, and board members are invited
One person represents their team as the Spokesperson for their team (the “Spoke,” like on a bike wheel)
The meeting is open for any team member to attend, and only the team’s designated Spoke acts on behalf of their team for decision-making. Occasionally during the meeting we will have time for teams to talk amongst themselves. In this way, team members are mostly quiet but not disconnected from their representation. In this way, the content of the meetings is transparent to the active members of the organization. This also provides opportunities for leadership development, as more people will experience the leadership spaces and have an understanding of the conversations that take place.
Teams can be represented by their leads, with other people also encouraged to take on the Spoke role in rotations (maybe of 3 months each, if possible?), and so there is a representative even if team leaders can’t attend. The meetings go best when the Spoke, if not a team lead, has attended at least one Leadership Council before.

Are you a member of the Oregon Public Employee Retirement System (PERS) who wants to ensure your retirement doesn't come at the expense of a livable future? Currently, over 331,000 Oregonians are invested in the fossil fuel industry simply by being a member of PERS, as current or retired public employees.Sign up
Here at 350PDX, we're starting another grassroots campaign to make sure our investments match our values. We've just finished two campaigns that have succeeded in receiving commitments from the City of Portland and Multnomah County to no longer invest in the 200 companies with the largest fossil fuel reserves. We also support student campaigns to divest the endowments of PSU, Reed College, University of Portland, and Lewis and Clark College.
As a PERS member, we want your input and involvement as we embark on another campaign to remove the social license of fossil fuel industry to destroy the climate and our ability to live on this planet.

You've helped spread the seeds of climate justice... and now we're rooted sunflowers!
350PDX now has an office, meaning we can host interns and volunteers, hold meetings, and grow our movement. AND - we just hired our first staff member, Mia Reback (if you don't know her yet, you'll LOVE her when you do).
All this growth means we need to raise money. We need to raise nearly $3,000 per month to sustain this work. Can you donate today so we can easily meet our goal of $7,500 in July?

Mayor Hales and Portland City Council --
Stand with the people of the Pacific Northwest, Senator Merkley, the Seattle City Council and the Pope by publicly opposing Shell’s plans to drill for oil in the arctic Chukchi Sea.
The MSV Fennica--an icebreaker ship on charter to Shell--sustained damage on its voyage north and is scheduled for repairs at Vigor Industrial Shipyard in North Portland. The ship is a critical component of Shell’s plans and its presence here is a reminder of Portland’s role in the fossil fuel economy.
Arctic drilling puts vulnerable ecosystems at risk and will exacerbate climate change. When it’s clear that most reserves of oil, coal and gas need to stay in the ground, only unbridled corporate greed could pursue the insanity of drilling for more oil in such a remote, dangerous and vulnerable area. At a time when we urgently need to transition to renewable energy, our future depends on everyone--including our elected officials--speaking out.
While Shell's icebreaker is in Portland, we will shine a bright light on the injustice of Arctic drilling (as well as the rest of the climate crisis) and expose Shell’s arrogant indifference to everything but its corporate profits. We will make it politically and reputationally disastrous for Shell or any corporation which would use the beautiful Northwest as a staging ground for such projects. And most of all we will continue our work to build a mass movement for climate justice and a stable, sustainable planet for us all. Join us!
